The New York Times

Nothing like coming back from a Thanksgiving weekend to find your mug posted in the New York Times Weekend Edition! Our editor in chief, Jim Gaines, wrote a wonderful column about what it's like being an older guy from the publishing world working with a team several decades younger than himself in the upcoming digital age
of publishing.

Will looks like he has those dreamy eyes going on, in awe of Jim's legacy. This shot was taken pre-haircut, so it's awesome that history will record me looking like a bohemian hipster. However, I'm laughing because Jim is looking at the tiny camera screen when a large monitor is clearly nearby. It looks like I had the last laugh...

O.K. Periodicals #3

The third issue of design magazine, O.K. Periodicals, was presented under great public interest at the Illustrative Festival in Berlin this past October. Now it is officially here for the rest of the world. What makes this edition so special is its cover, which is the collective design of hundreds of people from around the world. It gets to be crowned the first crowdsourced magazine cover in the world, and I'm proud and excited to have been joined in.

I wish O.K. Periodicals all the luck with their future issues! Not to be confused with OK! Magazine... yikes.

demilo

So I have finally finished up the logotype for my friend's band, demilo. The album comes out in February if I'm not mistaken, so I wish them luck!

Venn Master

I'm taking a break with this short week to rest my brain and enjoy Thanksgiving. So I thought I'd just update people on the happenings of things I've worked on thus far. My Jesus Venn Diagram was featured on The Huffington Post's Funniest Venn Diagrams. Ranked Number One (and causing a little religious debate), Somethink Fun has received more than 15,000 new visitors to this blog! For any of you who are still around... hello.

El Mas Santo

El Mas Santo, brainchild of Kinga Offert, a young Polish artist who has started a mass art project intended to juxtapose the world of Mexican wrestlers with the gray reality of the Polish streets. Kinga contacted me a while back about helping her and I couldn't refuse. She sent me a little luchadore figurine to photograph, and what's above and what will follow this week are some of my shots.

This was a lot of fun and wish Kinga all the best. I'll keep you posted when I know more about how her project will unfold!

Just Say It

I've been noticing (mostly while walking the aisles of Wholefoods) how people's totebags seem to proudly announce their good intentions of re-using, recycling, and not using plastic. As if the artwork on the bags became second fiddle to letting everyone know you're such a good citizen. So I figure why not just come right out and say it? A simple level of humor makes these items stand out
and get noticed.
