Unfinished UNESCO Poster
From the vault! An idea for the 2009 UNESCO official poster of International Mother Language Day (February 21). My idea was to put the information, seen on top in English and French, into all the speech bubbles below using their respective languages. Thus, one poster could essentially be printed in many countries, highlighting the importance and diversity of language itself.
However, I couldn't find translators and the whole thing just dissolved away... anyhoo, here's what I created.

The Write Stuff
A full redesign of James R. Gaines' web site and blog. Stripped down to the bare essentials, the navigation, layout, and color have become extremely simple allowing Gaines' work in the publishing industry over the years (TIME, NEWSWEEK, PEOPLE, etc) to shine.
This is the "logo," if you will, to be used on his splash page, along with a sneak preview layout of his blog/homepage. The whole site should be up-and-running shortly. (Click to enlarge)

Moveable Type
I'm slowly working on another's children's book, using expressive type and fun colors to help explain different concepts and ideas about the world around us.

Hermit the Fog
Absolutely brilliant title to this post, by the way. Pics from Hermit Island, Maine. The last one I stitched together, as you can obviously see, from about 8 or 9 separate shots. (Click to enlarge)

Killer Hermit Maine-iac On Board
I'm taking a little hiatus for the remainder of the week to go camping on the Maine Coast. This is the fake sticker I'm putting in the window of my friend's car as we roadtrip it up there. See you all next week!

Print Is Dead (Except for this lousy t-shirt)
Well, if it's not dead yet it's definitely dying. In some form. My new t-shirt design makes this statement without using any words or cheesy slogans (like the title of the post).
I'd like to think that if print does die, it'll come back in a more powerful, Robocop-esque form. Stockpiled with badass technology, fusing print and web somehow into the ultimate weapon. Is that too much to ask for?

Out with the Old, in with the Eww
With the entire publishing world scared shitless, I decided to take a look at the different forms of media - how they're being used now, and what their role could possibly be for the future.

EMMEMMÄREJAY
Where else you gonna be?!
Check out the original invite and brainchild over at my boy Ryan Adair's site. And you can wish him a belated birthday and a happy EMMEMMÄREJAY as well!

Canadian Moose & Goose
Yet another animal poem from my children's book, A Bovine's Wine. (Thought I'd keep the geese theme going for one more day...)

Funday Quiz!
Can you figure out the pattern? Most people should get it based on the last one, which tends to be something fun most kids learn about.

The Wood Vase
Cut-out patterns and textures... You'll be seeing a lot more of these from me, I think. It seems like a very fun route to explore.
